Details, details…

Welcome!

This boat-sharing format is a brand new experiment, and so, still a work in progress! We will add more pictures and details as we gather them, but hope that what is included to this point will be enough for now! :) We envision this boat as a way to share joy & relaxation with our friends & family. Allowing us all to “idle” somewhere beautiful, without spending hundreds of dollars a night. Feel free to use the “Request Reservation” Button to send us any questions you might have!

Accommodations

Basics~We have a small fan and small heater on board that can be helpful, but the boat is of course not as temperature controlled as a hotel room would be. There are normal household outlets and full power. You have multiple lights throughout the indoor area, and plenty of areas to charge devices, etc. One wireless speaker is also there that you can connect to via bluetooth. Usually basic cleaning supplies and some hygiene products are on board. Filtered water bottle filling station is right in front of the bathroom in the parking area, there is also running water on the boat. Folks with mobility needs, sea sickness sensitivities, or preferring more protection from the elements may not be best suited for this experience. If you do have any accommodation needs please describe them in the reservation request so we can help figure out if this will be doable & enjoyable for you/your group or not!

Sleeping~V-Berth bed is queen sized at one end and gets narrower at the bottom (this is located at the “front” /v-shaped end of the sailboat. Generally plenty of space for two adults. Includes pillows, clean linens & a 4 inch gel foam mattress (on the V-berth bed) for extra comfort. The two couches in the main section fold out into beds- one turns into bunk beds, one turns into a double bed. Generally, the boat sleeps 4 comfortably, up to 5 if some are kids. Unless you are particularly sensitive to temperature, the provided linens should be enough to keep you comfortable, but you are of course welcome to bring anything you think you might need to ensure your comfort!

Kitchen~Sink with running water, dishes, utensils, cooking utensils, small fridge, two burner cooktop, basic coffee maker, dish towels, some basic items like salt, pepper, olive oil, etc.

Bathroom/Showers~ The boat itself has a small restroom with small sink with running water for washing up & brushing teeth, etc. The onboard toilet can handle middle of night ‘pee emergencies,’ but not more than that. At the end of the dock near the parking area there are men’s & women’s multi-stall restrooms & showering facilities (the showers are private using double shower curtains…think ‘gym’). Cute vintage tile ~ cleaned by Alamitos Marina staff daily. Some like to wear flip-flops into the shower since it’s communal. Stays locked & not open to the public.

Chilling~ There is a table in the ‘living area’ that pulls out to a partial or full dining table. The indoor living room is cozy with two couches facing each other (the ceiling can feel low for taller folks, but if weather is good you can slide the ceiling partial open for extra headroom and light! The outdoor area has three bench seats (cushions stored in the boat and can be brought out) that form a U-shape- great for sun-bathing, reading, having coffee in the early morning.

Fun/Activity~ We usually have board games, paper/markers, books etc on board for indoor relaxation. There are two paddle boards and one kayak on the boat. There are also life vests under the outdoor seats for those who need them. Children are technically required to wear a life vest when out in the larger harbor area. We may have swim masks on board too…take a look under the seats! The rules say you aren’t allowed to swim, but we always do, and have never had any issues- just keep an eye out for any boats entering or leaving the slip area. We highly recommend jumping off the back of the boat :) There is a ‘Mother’s Beach’ with playground within fairly close distance (we usually paddle board over to it as a family). Naples Island Canals are also nearby and fun to kayak or paddle board to. **To get in and out of the water when by the boat you can use the ladder or tie a paddle board to the boat as an anchor and use it to climb up on, before climbing up onto the dock. It’s very difficult to get out of the water straight onto the dock with no implement to assist you.

Away from the boat there are endless ways to enjoy your time in Long Beach- the boat is located right across from an outdoor shopping/eating area called “2nd & PCH.” Whole Foods, coffee shop, multiple dining options are a 5 minute walk across the street from the boat. There are Sunday Farmer’s Markets in the parking lot. You are also close to Belmont Shore, and located between Los Angeles & Orange County.

Parking~ We have one free parking pass (it hangs on the rear view mirror). It’s on the boat and allows you to park on any “red curb” in the parking lot- which is the preferred parking for boat owners- just remember to return it before you leave :)

There are further instructions about how to get aboard the boat, unlock it and get it set up that will be emailed to you if you reserve a stay!

Exchange

We’ve estimated that the following suggested exchange would help us keep the boat in our family & share it with those we love, while ensuring we have a reliable way to keep it clean and turned-over so it can be enjoyed to the max capacity :)

~ Day Use (10am-10pm): $20-40 contribution appreciated + $80 cleaning fee, only if you determine it’s needed (ie: water, sand on floor, etc!).

~Overnight Fee: (10am arrival-2pm check out next day):$60-100/night contribution appreciated, $120 cleaning fee per stay required (which includes all linens washed & ready for the next person- this is the exact cost we are charged by a local business owner, Nancy, who takes care of the boat).

Venmo & Zelle are preferred payment methods at this time, but other options can be arranged! If contribution within the estimated range is difficult, just let us know what you can offer as an exchange!
